The Dolphins have inked Jaylen waddle to a contract extension on Thursday. The three-year, $84.75 million extension makes him one of the highest paid wide receivers in the league. The deal includes $76 million guaranteed and an annual salary of $28.25 million. The deal makes him the fourth highest paid wide receiver in the league now. The guaranteed money is third as he’s only behind A.J. Brown and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Waddle’s 3,385 receiving yards rank 13th in the NFL since 2021. The past two seasons he has been playing alongside Tyreek Hill. As we all know, Hill was mentioned as an MVP candidate last season. The No. 6 overall pick in 2021 set a rookie record with 104 receptions and followed that campaign with a career-best 1,356 yards in 2022. Waddle recorded his third straight 1,000-yard season in 2023 despite missing three games.
The Dolphins have made a lot of upgrades this offseason as they are seeking to get to the Super Bowl. There have been discussions about the contract extension for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa ever since the season ended. Miami will also look to extend Jaelan Phillips and Jevon Holland also.
