The Atlanta Falcons continue to make moves before the season starts. The Falcons are signing A.J. Terrell to a 4-year, $81 million contract. The deal includes $65.8 million in effective full guarantees. Terrell is now the second highest-paid cornerback on a per-year basis at $20.25 million. That trails only the Green Bay Packers’ Jaire Alexander, who makes $21 million per year. Atlanta will now have one of the best secondaries in the league. Last week, they signed Justin Simmons to a one-year deal to pair him with Jessie Bates III at safety. The Falcons drafted him with the 16th overall pick in the 2020 draft, and he is set to make $12.344 million this season on the fifth-year option of his rookie deal. Not only the secondary will be good, but the defense should be one of the better ones in the league also.
Atlanta traded for one of the best pass rushers in Matthew Judon last week also. With the offense being set after signing Kirk Cousins to be the new quarterback this is a complete team. Last week, the question was asked, are the Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl contenders?
