Week 5 of the college football season is in the books and the Georgia/Alabama game was an instant classic. After dominating the Bulldogs in the first half, Georgia mounted a strong comeback to take the lead. Alabama regained the lead and eventually won the 41-34 in a game that will be talked about for a while. My record was 7-2 for Week 5 and my overall mark jumps to 19-6. My winning percentage goes up slightly from 75 to 76%. Kansas State blowing out Oklahoma State was my first defeat. The Cowboys defense is one of the worse in the country. My second and final loss came when Arizona pulled off the upset of the Utes on the road. On Friday Night, the Miami Hurricanes barely edged Virginia Tech in controversial fashion. The Huskies converted a Hail Mary at the end of the game, but replay overturned the call.

The biggest upset of the weekend came when Kentucky went to Mississippi and defeated then 6th ranked Ole Miss. The new rankings have Alabama overtaking Texas as the new #1 team in the nation. Georgia drops from 2nd to 5th after their crushing defeat against the Crimson Tide. This week I’ll be predicting another 9 games with the hopes of continuing my winning ways. Check out Trav’s Week 6 college football picks below.

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksWe kick things off on a Friday night as the Syracuse Orange head to Las Vegas to face the 25th ranked UNLV Rebels. Syracuse head into this contest with a 3-1 record. Kyle McCord and the Orange offense rank 3rd in the country with over 370 yards a game. How will the Orange offense handle the pressure in Las Vegas on a Friday Night? How will this Syracuse defense hold up against one of the leading rushing teams in the country? UNLV enter this game ranked 25th. This is the first time they’re ranked, so they have never dealt with this pressure. Matthew Sluka was a major reason for their offense, but he left the team over NIL money. Can the Rebels and new quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams continue their winning ways? I’m still believing in this UNLV team, and they should win. Rebels Win 34-24

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksWe have a big SEC battle between two top 25 teams. The 9th ranked Missouri Tigers head to Texas to face the 25th ranked Aggies. Missouri come into this game as the 9th ranked team in the nation. They dropped in the rankings after barely getting by Vanderbilt a couple weeks ago. The Tigers hold a win against then 24th ranked Boston College in a close one. Are they worthy of being ranked this high? Can they leave Texas with the win? Texas A&M have won four in a row after dropping their opener against Notre Dame. The Aggies defense is one of the better ones in the country. On the offensive side, the pass game is one of the worse in the nation. Can they hold off the Tigers? This should be a close game that comes down to the end with Texas A&M winning. Aggies Win 24-34

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksWe have a key ACC matchup between two teams with one loss. The SMU Mustangs will head to Louisville to face the 22nd ranked Cardinal. SMU won their ACC debut in impressive fashion by blowing out Florida State. The Mustangs bolster one of the highest scoring offenses in the league with over 42 points a game. The only loss came against a tough BYU team a few weeks ago. Can the Mustangs get a signature ACC win in Louisville? The Cardinal suffered their first defeat of the season on the road against Notre Dame. Louisville mounted a nice comeback, but it wasn’t enough to take down the Irish. Tyler Shough continues to put up great numbers despite the defeat. Will the Cardinal rebound from their first loss of the season? I’m going with Louisville to edge SMU. Cardinal Win 31-24

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksWe have a critical ACC matchup as the Boston College Eagles head to Virginia to face the Cavaliers. Boston College only defeat came to then 5th ranked Missouri on the road. Are they a legit team or just beating teams that’s not any good? The Eagles are coming off a one point win over Western Kentucky. Thomas Castellanos went down with an injury and backup Grayson James led them to the win. Will Castellanos be ready for this matchup? Virginia is in the same boat as they enter this contest with only one defeat. The fell to Maryland a couple week ago by two touchdowns. Virginia is entering a tough stretch beginning now. They still have Louisville, Clemson, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame remaining. In a tough one, I’m riding with Boston College to get the road win. Eagles Win 30-24

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksWe have a critical Big Ten matchup as the Iowa Hawkeyes travel to Columbus to face the 3rd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Iowa enters this game with only one loss, and it came against in-state rival Iowa State. Iowa is getting things done with great defense and running the ball. The Hawkeyes defense is giving up less than 14 points a game, which ranks them 15th in the nation. The 250 yards a game on the ground places then 10th in the country. Ohio State is blowing everyone out thus far this season. They have the top defense in the country while scoring almost 49 points a game. With them hitting the road to Oregon next weekend, could this be a trap game? This should be a tough contest, but Ohio State runs away in the end. Buckeyes Win 38-20

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksWe have a critical SEC matchup as the 12th ranked Ole Miss Rebels head to South Carolina to face the Gamecocks. Ole Miss went from being in the top 10 to being on the outside after their loss to Kentucky. With Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma and at Arkansas remaining, this is a must win. The Rebels were looked at as being a team that could make the playoffs. Can they rebound from their first loss and beat a tough Gamecocks team? South Carolina only has one blemish on their record. They fell to LSU a few weeks ago by only three points. This same South Carolina team held Kentucky to 6 points while putting up 31. Which South Carolina team will show up in this huge game? This should be a close one, but I’m going with Ole Miss to rebound and win. Rebels Win 30-20

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksWe have another SEC matchup as the 4th ranked Tennessee Volunteers head to Arkansas to face the Razorbacks. Tennessee is one of the best teams in the country and there’s a reason they’re ranked 4th. They lead the country in scoring offense by putting up an average of 54 points. On defense, they’re tied for second by only allowing an average of seven points a game. They went to Oklahoma at night and shut down the Sooners high powered offense. Arkansas is coming off a tough loss to Texas A&M this past Saturday. They could rebound in a huge way by upsetting the Vols this weekend. Arkansas is a tough place to play, especially it being a night game. Can the Razorbacks find a way to get in some offense and slow down the Vols offense? Tennessee should win in a competitive game. Vols Win 35-24

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksWe head back to the ACC for this midseason matchup. The Duke Blue Devils head to Atlanta to face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Duke comes into this game undefeated with a 5-0 record. Georgia Tech will be their first real, road test this season. The Blue Devils are coming off an impressive come from behind win over rival North Carolina. The defense of the Blue Devils allows around 16 points a game. Are they legit contenders or not? Georgia Tech have already dropped two conference games thus far. They still have Miami, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina on their schedule. They can’t afford to suffer their third conference defeat with those tough games ahead. The atmosphere for this Saturday night game will be electric. I’m going with Georgia Tech to hand Duke their first loss. Yellow Jackets Win 31-27

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksThe ESPN crew will be in attendance for this ACC matchup. The 8th ranked Miami Hurricanes head out west to California to face the Golden Bears. Miami just escaped their last game against Virginia Tech with a controversial win. The Hurricanes are one of the favorites to make the playoffs this season. Cam Ward was the Heisman favorite after Week 1, and he continues to play well. Miami leads the nation in passing and possess one of the best defenses. California lost their first game a couple weeks ago against Florida State. The defense is the main reason for the Bears having a great start. The Bears don’t want to drop their first two games in the ACC. Can California pull off the massive upset against the Canes? I’m rolling with Miami to edge the Bears in a close one. Hurricanes Win 27-24

Trav’s Week 6 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 6 College Football PicksThe final game of the weekend will put two teams that’s undefeated in Big 12 play. The Texas Tech Red Raiders will head out west to Arizona to face the Wildcats. Texas Tech can score with the best teams in the country. They are putting up a little less than 42 points per game. On the flipside, they give up about 34 points a game which is near the bottom of college football. Can they slow down the Wildcats offense? Arizona is coming off an impressive road win against the Utah Utes. They held Utah to only 10 points and this came after being beaten down by Kansas State. The Wildcats will love to head to BYU next week with some momentum. Will this be a high scoring game? It should be and I’m going with Arizona to leave with the win. Wildcats Win 41-31
