Week 7 is in the books, and we now have only one undefeated team remaining. The Minnesota Vikings fell to the Detroit Lions for their first loss of the season. The trade deadline is less than two weeks away and there are a lot of rumors circulating. With Rashee Rice being out for the season, the Chiefs traded for former All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins. Despite having a 6-0 record, Patrick Mahomes has struggled by throwing only 6 TDs to his 8 INTs. My record was 6-3 this week with my Week 7 NFL Picks and my overall mark is 45-27. The winning percentage rises a little from 61.9% to 62.5%. The Denver Broncos blowing out the Saints in Sean Peyton’s return was my first loss. New Orleans is a depleted team suffering from so many injuries. They did extend Alvin Kamara, which is good because he’s the only offensive threat.
The Seattle Seahawks traveled to Atlanta and beat down the Falcons was my second defeat. The defense pressured Kirk Cousins to force two picks and a fumble. My third and final loss came in the second Monday Night game. The Arizona Cardinals shocked the Los Angeles Chargers with a game winning field goal. Could we see the return of Tua to the Dolphins lineup as they face Arizona. I’ll be picking another nine games for Week 8. Check out Trav’s 2024 Week 8 NFL picks below.
As always, we start things off with the Thursday Night game. The Minnesota Vikings will head out west to Los Angeles to face the Rams. Minnesota dropped their first game last week against Detroit in a thriller. Despite the loss, it showed that the Vikings are one of the best teams in the league. Sam Darnold continues to look great, and the addition of Aaron Jones has done wonders. How will Minnesota respond as a team after their first loss? The Rams ended their two game losing streak with a win over the Raiders last week. The Rams have dealt with a lot of injuries this season. Cooper Kupp is expected to return for this game despite the trade rumors. Could the Rams make a run like last season? Can’t see them getting past the Vikings in this one. Minnesota Win 24-20
We have the Philadelphia Eagles traveling to Cincinnati to face off with the Bengals. Philadelphia is coming off an impressive and dominating win in New York over the Giants. The Eagles are going back to their successful formula of running the ball. With this, they dominate the clock, and the opposing offenses can’t find a rhythm. The defense looked revitalized, and they’ll need to pressure Burrow like they did Daniel Jones. Can they continue this play? After losing their first three games, the Bengals have now won three of four games. The defense has been a big part of that success. In the last two games, they have given up a total of 21 points in those wins. The run game continues to be an issue for the Bengals. I’m picking them to find a way to beat Philly. Cincinnati Win 26-21
We have the Arizona Cardinals making that trip to South Beach to face the Miami Dolphins. The Cardinals is coming off an impressive Monday Night win over the Chargers. The pass defense allowed almost 350 yards through the air against Justin Herbert. The offense also struggled, but they found a way to pull off the victory. How will the Cardinals defense fare against the returning Tua and Miami offense? Miami has dropped four of their last five games. The offense wasn’t expected to look the same as Tua being out due to a concussion. In the four full games he’s missed, the Miami offense has only scored 40 points combined. If the offense can get back on track, this will help the defense in the end. Tua will provide a spark for at least this game, and they should win. Miami Win 24-17
We have a battle to see who will take over the NFC South. The Atlanta Falcons will head to Tampa to take on the Bucs. Atlanta had their 3-game winning streak snapped last week at the hands of Seattle. Kirk Cousins had defenders in his face for most of the game. The result was him throwing two interceptions and he lost a fumble also. The defense is still having issues stopping the opposing offense. Tampa is coming off a tough Monday Night loss to Baltimore. In the defeat, they loss Chris Godwin for the season and Mike Evans due to his hamstring. The Bucs are looking to avenge their overtime loss in Atlanta to the Falcons a few weeks back. Can the Bucs find a way to win without their top two receivers? I’m picking the Falcons to beat Tampa as Baker struggles. Atlanta Win 24-14
We have a battle between the two top teams in the AFC South. The Indianapolis Colts will head down to Houston to face the Texans. After dropping their first two games, the Colts have won four of five games. The defense has given up a total of 27 points in the last two games. Is the defense coming around or was it because they played the Titans and Dolphins? Jonathon Taylor has been out the last couple games, but he could return from his ankle injury. Houston is coming off a disappointing loss in Green Bay thanks to a game winning field goal. C.J. Stroud had his worse game as a pro after throwing for only 86 yards. Joe Mixon looked great after returning from injury. Don’t expect a repeat performance from Stroud as they should win. Houston Win 27-17
The Buffalo Bills will make the cross country trip to Seattle to face the Seahawks. Buffalo have won their last two games and have a comfortable lead in the AFC East. The Bills saw the return of James Cook last week after missing a game. The Bills also got help on offense by trading for Amari Cooper. Keon Coleman is coming off his best game as a pro and the Cooper addition will continue to help. Seattle ended their 3-game losing streak last week in a big way. They went to Atlanta and blew out the Falcons and looked great in doing so. DK Metcalf went down with an injury, but he’s expected to play. Can the Seahawks repeat their performance from a week ago against Buffalo? In a tough one, I’m riding with the Seahawks to edge the Bills. Seattle Win 24-23
We have a battle between the top two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears head to Washington to face Jayden Daniels and the Commanders. Chicago is coming off their bye week. They took a 3-game winning streak into their break and Caleb Williams is starting to look great. While the offense is starting to click, the defense is one of the best in the league. How will they handle the Commanders high powered offense? The big question in Washington is about the status of Jayden Daniels. Daniels went down with a rib injury last week and didn’t return. The Commanders offense is tied in scoring in the league and most of it is because of Daniels. Marcus Mariota took over and looked great running the offense. This is a tough one to pick, but I’m riding with the Commanders. Washington Win 27-21
We have the Sunday Night game between two of the biggest franchises in the league. The Dallas Cowboys will head to San Francisco to battle the 49ers. Dallas is coming off their bye week after their embarrassing loss to Detroit. The defense could use some help and that one person being Micah Parsons. Parsons has been out due to a high ankle sprain and his status is unknown. The offense continues to struggle, and this game is pivotal to their development. San Francisco is dealing with so many injuries, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Brandon Aiyuk is done for the season with a knee injury. Deebo Samuel was just released from the hospital due to pneumonia complications. Christian McCaffrey haven’t played all season due to his calf injury. I’m picking the Cowboys to finally beat the Niners. Dallas Win 20-17
We have the Monday Night game as the New York Giants head to Pittsburgh to battle the Steelers. New York is coming off an embarrassing loss at home against the Eagles. The Giants were dominated on both sides of the ball. They even pulled Daniel Jones to hopefully produce a spark with the offense. It didn’t help, so what will be the ramifications moving forward. New York has scored 10 points in their last two games. Pittsburgh made the controversial move to start Russell Wilson last week. The Steelers offense put up 37 points and the offense looked great. If the offense keeps moving in this direction, they could be one of the best in the AFC. On defense, they rank 2nd in the league in scoring so they’ll be okay there. I’m picking the Steelers to win gain on Monday Night. Pittsburgh Win 30-17
