Week 13 is in the books, and we are now starting to see who’s separating themselves from other teams. In the AFC, we have the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs as the leaders of the pack. Pittsburgh and Baltimore is a level below them. After that, we have the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos. In the NFC, the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles are the two teams and people want to see that matchup. The Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers are slightly below them. Ater that, we have the Commanders and Seattle Seahawks. My Week 13 picks garnered a 9-1 record, and my overall mark goes to 78-42. My winning percentage rises a little from 62.7% to 65%. My only defeat came from the Steelers taking down the Cincinnati Bengals. The Cincinnati Bengals are usually a second half team, but the defense is awful.
On Thanksgiving, the Lions, Cowboys and Packers all came away with victories. Kansas City escaped with a win over the Raiders in controversial fashion the following day. The big news of the week was the hit and suspension of Azeez Al-Shaair on Trevor Lawrence. Al-Shaair has since apologized, but legends like Tom Brady has weighed in on the controversy. The injuries continue to mount for the Niners after RBs Chrisitan McCaffrey and Jordan Mason head to the IR. For Week 14, I’ll be predicting another 10 games as the season gets closer to the end.
We kick things off with the Thursday Night Football game as always. We have a pivotal battle with the NFC North and playoff implications. The Green Bay Packers will head to Detroit to take on the Lions. Green Bay has won seven of their last eight games and that one loss came against Detroit. That was also the only game where the Packers scored less than 20 points during that stretch. Josh Jacobs will need more than 13 carries for the Pack to win. Detroit is coming off a tough win at home against Chicago on Thanksgiving. The Lions are arguably the best team in the league, but they remain above Minnesota and two above this Packers team. The Lions need to continue to win as their season finale against the Vikings could be huge. I’m going with Detroit to win a close one. Lions Win 27-24
We have the New York Jets making the trip down south to Miami to battle the Dolphins. The season is basically over for New York. There have been talks about benching Aaron Rodgers. The Jets have lost three in a row and eight of their last nine games. New York is just looking to play spoiler for the remainder of the season. They have Miami twice and they also play the Rams and Bills also. All those teams are hoping for playoff berths, but New York could have a say. Miami had their 3-game winning streak snapped in Lambeau Field on Thanksgiving night. The Dolphins are still a couple of games behind the final Wild Card spot. The Dolphins need the Broncos to lose a couple games, and they need to win. It begins now with a win over the Jets. Dolphins Win 24-20
We have the Atlanta Falcons heading north to Minnesota to face the Vikings. This will mark the return to Minnesota for the first time since he left for Atlanta. The Falcons need a win because they are tied with Tampa. Atlanta owns the tiebreaker against the Bucs, but Tampa plays Las Vegas this week. Can the Falcons offense get on track against one of the best defenses in the league? If Kirk Cousins plays badly, will the Falcons turn to Michael Penix Jr.? Minnesota is currently 10-2 and sits only a game behind the Lions in the NFC North. They are also eyeing the Eagles as they make a push for the top seed in the NFC. Minnesota was my pick to finish last in the NFC North. I’m picking them to hand Atlanta their fourth consecutive loss in the Kirk Cousins return game. Vikings Win 27-17
We have the Carolina Panthers heading up north to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. Despite their 3-9 record, the Panthers have been playing some good football. It took the Chiefs to kick a walk-off field goal to beat them two weeks ago. Last week, it took a fumble in OT for the Tampa Bay Bucs to beat them. Bryce Young looked great, and the team is headed in the right direction. Can they upset the Eagles? The Eagles are coming off an impressive road win against the Ravens. Philly is currently riding an 8-game winning streak. Saquon Barkley is one of the favorites to take home the league MVP award. The Eagles play Pittsburgh next week, will this be a trap game? This should be an interesting game, and it will be closer than expected, but Philly wins again. Eagles Win 34-24
We have an AFC North battle as the Cleveland Browns head to Pittsburgh to battle the Steelers. Cleveland has lost three of their last four games heading into this game. The lone win came against the Steelers about a couple weeks ago. Cleveland is like Carolina; they have a losing record, but they will fight against anyone. With their playoff hopes out the window, they can spoil others. As mentioned, they beat the Steelers a few weeks ago, can they repeat that effort? With their loss to the Eagles, the Ravens are two games behind this Steelers team in the loss column. Pittsburgh is looking to wrap up the AFC North division. After this game, the Steelers have the Eagles and Ravens on the road and back for Kansas City. Pittsburgh should leave this one with the win. Steelers Win 31-21
We have the Las Vegas Raiders taking a trip to Tampa to face the Buccaneers. The Raiders have dropped eight games in a row. Last week, they lost in controversial fashion on the road to Kansas City. Brock Bowers has been their bright spot on offense. The rookie tight end has almost 900 yards receiving along with 84 catches. The defense still has one of the best pass rushers in Maxx Crosby. Can they find a way to beat the Bucs? Tampa has won two in a row after dropping their previous four games. They are now tied atop the NFC South with the Falcons. Atlanta owns the tiebreaker, but the Falcons are in Minnesota this weekend. Can the Bucs take over first place with a win and Atlanta loss? I’m riding with Tampa to do just that. Bucs Win 23-14
We have a battle between a pair of teams that’s looking to win the NFC West. The 1st place Seattle Seahawks head to Arizona to face the Cardinals. The NFC West teams are separated by two games between the four teams. The Seahawks are riding a 3-game winning streak to sit atop of the division by one game. Seattle beat this Arizona team a couple weeks ago to take over the top spot. Can they create two game cushion over Arizona? Arizona was sitting on top of the division, but they have dropped two in a row. The Cardinals have a couple of winnable games against New England and Carolina after this one. Can Arizona pick up the win to tie Seattle atop the NFC West again? In a tough one, I’m picking Arizona to avenge their loss. Cardinals Win 23-20
The Buffalo Bills will make that cross country trip to Los Angeles to take on the Rams. The Bills are arguably the hottest team in the AFC. They have won seven in a row and just finished blowing out the Niners. Josh Allen is getting a lot of consideration for league MVP. Buffalo is bringing back an all-time Bills great in Micah Hyde. Will the Bills leave Los Angeles with their eighth consecutive win? The Rams are coming off a tough road win in New Orleans. The win have them a game out of first place and tied with Arizona. Are the Rams poised to make a late season playoff run like they did last season? Can this defense slow down Josh Allen, James Cook and the Bills offense? I’m picking Los Angeles to shock the Bills in an upset. Rams Win 24-23
The Chicago Bears will head out west to San Francisco to take on the 49ers. Almost two months ago, the Bears were 4-2. Beginning with the Hail Mary in Washington, the Bears have dropped six games in a row. Chicago have lost their last three games by a combined 7 points. The losses all came against division opponents. The loss in Detroit on Thanksgiving was the final straw and Coach Matt Eberflus was fired. Can the Bears upset the Niners on the road? San Francisco have dropped three in a row themselves. They are in last place in the NFC West, but only two games behind Seattle. Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason both went on IR this week. Can the 49ers find enough players to somehow leave with the win? San Francisco has the heart of a champion and will win. 49ers Win 20-17
We have a Sunday Night game between two AFC West powerhouses. The Los Angeles Chargers will head to Kansas City to battle the Chiefs. The Chargers had their four game winning streak snapped a couple weeks ago against Baltimore. This past week, they went into Atlanta and their top ranked scoring defense forced Kirk Cousins to throw 4 INTs. The offense will need to perform much better in this game against Kansas City. Can the Chargers knock off the Chiefs? Kansas City suffered their first loss a few weeks ago. They have beaten Carolina and Las Vegas by a combined 5 points. The Chiefs continue to barely win these games. Will those close games come back to haunt them in this contest against the Chargers? This will be another close encounter and I’m still taking the 2-time champions to win. Chiefs Win 24-20
We have the Monday Night game as the Cincinnati Bengals head to Dallas to battle the Cowboys. Cincinnati is currently on a 3-game losing streak. They are three games out of the final Wild Card playoff spot. Joe Burrow is having an amazing season, but the defense ranks next to last in scoring. During the losing streak, the Bengals scored 99 points while the defense gave up 113. Can they slow down the Cowboys offense? Dallas has won two games in a row, and they feel like they can make a playoff push. Cooper Rush played well in place of the injured Dak Prescott. The defense still ranks in the bottom four in scoring. Can they slow down the high-powered Bengals offense? In a must win for both and what should be a high scoring game I’m taking Cincinnati. Bengals Win 34-31
