Week 2 didn’t have a lot of matchups that warranted in doing my picks. The big matchup saw the 3rd ranked Texas Longhorns manhandle 10th ranked Michigan at home 31-12. The only other ranked matchup saw the 14th ranked Tennessee Volunteers destroy 24th ranked N.C. State 51-10. The big upset saw 5th ranked Notre Dame fall to the Northern Illinois Huskies at home. My Week 1 picks garnered a 4-1 record with my only loss being USC defeating the LSU Tigers in a great game. My Week 3 college football picks will consist of another five games. There are only a couple games that feature ranked teams facing off against each other.

Trav’s Week 3 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 3 College Football PicksWe start Friday Night off with a matchup between two top 20 teams. The 20th ranked Arizona Wildcats will travel to Manhattan Kansas to meet the 14th ranked Kansas State Wildcats. The Wildcats will look to make a statement now they’re in the Big 12 Conference. Tetairoa McMillan has looked like one of the best wide receivers in the country. How will this Arizona defense stack up against the offense of Kansas State? The Wildcats barely escaped Tulane with a win last week. DJ Giddens and the running game will be vital if the Wildcats are to remain undefeated. Kansas State will need to incorporate a passing game to open the run game against Arizona. It’s always tough to go on the road and play at Kansas State, which will be the difference. I’m going with the Wildcats to win in a close one. Kansas State Win 31-24

Trav’s Week 3 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 3 College Football PicksWe have the 4th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide making that trip up north to Wisconsin to face the Badgers. This will be a good matchup for both teams to see where they’re at as far as national scale. Jalen Milroe has started the season looking amazing as he’ll be one of the Heisman favorites as the season progresses. Jam Miller has emerged as their leading running back while the defense is giving up an average of 8 points. Wisconsin is always a tough place to play. Despite heading into this game with a 2-0 record, they didn’t look great in those two games. The wins came against Western Michigan and South Dakota. The Badgers have always been a physical team, but can they match up against the Tide? I’m picking the Crimson Tide to eventually run away in this one. Alabama Win 34-20

Trav’s Week 3 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 3 College Football PicksWe have an early season SEC matchup as the 16th ranked LSU Tigers head to Columbia to face the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Tigers opened the season with a tough loss against the USC Trojans. LSU has basically relied on their passing game in the first two games. Garrett Nussmeier has thrown for over 600 yards and 8 TDs in two games. On the flip side, the Tigers ranked 112th in the country on the ground. LSU will need to find a running game moving forward if they want to compete in the SEC. South Carolina blew out Kentucky on the road after surviving their first game against Old Dominion. Which South Carolina team will show up against this top 20 team in LSU? This should be a tough game, but I’m picking the Tigers to get by the Gamecocks. LSU Win 27-21

Trav’s Week 3 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 3 College Football PicksWe have the second top 25 matchup of Week 3. The 24th ranked Boston College Eagles will travel to Missouri to face the 6th ranked Tigers. Boston College surprised everyone by beating Florida State on the road when they were ranked 10th. Boston College ranks in the top 10 for rush yards in the country. This is a big game for the Eagles seeing they have a favorable schedule for the remainder of the season. Missouri didn’t give up a single point in their first two games. Those games were against Murray St. and Buffalo, but it’s still impressive. Missouri has a favorable SEC schedule this season and this game is huge for them also. Can this Tigers defense slow down the Eagles and their run offense? I’m going with the Tigers to leave with the win. Missouri Win 34-21

Trav’s Week 3 College Football PicksTrav’s Week 3 College Football PicksWe have a battle of in-state rivals as the 9th ranked Oregon Ducks head to Corvallis to meet the Oregon State Beavers. Oregon is one of the favorites to reach the 12-team playoffs at the end of the season. Dillion Gabriel is also one of the preseason candidates to possibly win the Heisman Trophy. After their first two games, the Ducks didn’t look like a national championship contender. They beat Idaho and Boise St. by a combined 13 points. Corvallis is a tough place to play, especially in the nighttime. This is a 3:30 game, so will it have the same mystique? Oregon State currently has a top 5 rushing offense in the nation. If they can continue that pattern it will keep Gabriel off the field. In a close one, I’m going with the Ducks to barely escape with the win. Oregon Win 24-23
