We have just wrapped up Week 2 of the NFL season and the major headlines are all due to injuries. It feels like every team has been bitten by the injury bug. There are some that will keep the player out for a couple of weeks. On the other hand, there are some that will keep the player out for an extended period. Check out the key NFL injuries through Week 2 of the NFL season below.
Tua Tagovailoa
Tua suffered another concussion in Miami’s Thursday loss to the Buffalo Bills. This is his third diagnosed concussion of his NFL career. All of them have come within a 24 month period. The timetable for his return is uncertain and he has stated there are no plans for him to retire.
Puka Nacua
After having a record breaking rookie season, Nacua injured his knee in training camp. Nacua went down in their Week 1 loss to Detroit with a PCL strain. The latest we’re hearing is that Puka could be out until Week 9 of the season.
Cooper Kupp
Cooper Kupp had one of the greatest seasons three years ago. Ever since then, Kupp has battled a plethora of injuries. The injury to Kupp seems like it’s worse than expected. It is expected that Kupp will miss an extended amount of time with his fourth ankle injury since 2022.
Christian McCaffrey
Christian McCaffrey has been nothing short of amazing ever since his trade from Carolina to San Francisco. McCaffrey led the Niners to a Super Bowl appearance after being Offensive Player of the Year last season. McCaffrey has been dealing with a calf injury throughout training camp. The 49ers have put him on IR to do his calf and Achilles injury. McCaffrey will miss at least four games and potentially more.
Deebo Samuel
Deebo Samuel went down with a calf injury in their lost to Minnesota. Samuel had 110 yards receiving on eight catches before going down. Samuel is expected to miss several weeks with his calf strain.
Jordan Love
Jordan Love went down at the end of their loss to the Eagles in Week 1. Love was diagnosed with a sprained MCL in his left knee. It was initially thought he would miss between 3-to-6 weeks. They are saying it’s possible we could see his return for their Week 3 matchup in Tennessee.
Justin Jefferson
Justin Jefferson’s season has been going as good as possible. Jefferson inked the biggest deal for a WR before the season started. Minnesota is 2-0 after defeating the 49ers in a game where he caught a 97 yard TD pass. Jefferson went down later in the game with a quad injury. It has been reported that he’s day-to-day as of now.
A.J. Brown
A.J. Brown tweaked his hamstring Thursday in practice. On Saturday, he was ruled out for the Monday Night matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. It was stated during the broadcast that he’ll miss a couple of games from it. Brown will miss the game in New Orleans and the Eagles are hoping to have him for their playoff rematch in Tampa.
Isiah Pacheco
Isiah Pacheco is one of the toughest runners in the NFL. Unfortunately, Pacheco fractured his fibula in the Chiefs win over the Bengals. Pacheco was put on IR and could miss between 6 to 8 weeks.
Tee Higgins
We all thought Tee Higgins wouldn’t suit up for the Cincinnati Bengals again. Ultimately, Higgins opted to sign his one year tender, but he’s currently dealing with a hamstring injury. Higgins haven’t played this season so far, but he’s heading in the right direction as of now.
Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being let go by the Denver Broncos. The Steelers also traded for Justin Fields and that’s looking like a smart move. Wilson was slated to start Week 1 in Atlanta but was scratched due to his calf injury. Wilson missed last week’s game and now Pittsburgh will continue to role with Justin Fields.
Jermaine Johnson II
Jermaine Johnson II will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his Achilles. Johnson has become one of the brightest stars in the league on defense. With Haason Reddick still holding out, will the Jets finally agree to a new deal with the All-Pro pass rusher?
These are 12 key injuries through Week 2 of the NFL season. There are several more, but let’s hope these injuries subside and we get some good, healthy football.
