The season of the New York Giants has gone from bad to worse. A week ago, they announced they were benching Daniel Jones and going with Tommy DeVito. After that, it seemed like Daniel Jones was saying goodbye to everyone during a press conference. The following day, Daniel Jones was released from the New York Giants. Jones hit waivers and if someone claimed him, they would have to pay his $11.8 million salary. The new team will also have a risk, because Jones is under contract through 2026. There aren’t full guarantees left beyond this season, but Jones does have $23 million in injury guarantees for 2025. Jones is expected to clear waivers this afternoon and he’s said he wants to go to a playoff contender. There will be options and some of them aren’t a playoff team. Let’s check out 8 potential destinations for Daniel Jones below.

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are coming off an embarrassing blowout loss to Green Bay on the road. Brock Purdy was one of many to miss the game in Green Bay. Purdy is dealing with a shoulder issue, and we don’t know the status moving forward. San Francisco says he should be ready next week, but we know this isn’t his first shoulder injury. Brandon Allen isn’t the answer for the Niners if Purdy were to get re-injured. Daniel Jones is an upgrade over Allen and Josh Dobbs, and he could learn a lot under Kyle Shanahan. The Niners are only one game behind in the NFC West for first place. Will they make a move for Daniel Jones once he clears waivers?

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are currently on a 3-game winning streak. The return of Tua has done wonders for this Dolphins team. We all know the history of concussions when it comes to Tua. We hope and pray he can continue to remain healthy moving forward. Miami is one game behind in the loss column behind the Broncos for the final Wild Card spot. The Dolphins need a quality backup in case Tua were to go down. Daniel Jones is an upgrade over Tyler Huntley as a backup. For Jones, this would be great moving forward and learning from being a part of this Dolphins offense.

Dallas Cowboys

We know that Dak Prescott is gone after having season ending surgery on his hamstring. Cooper Rush has been great ever since taking over. Daniel Jones would be an upgrade over Trey Lance for the backup position. Would Jerry Jones entertain the idea of bringing in the former Giants quarterback? Would Jones be an upgrade over Cooper Rush once he picks up the offense? I’m sure that Jones would love to be on a team that plays the Giants again this season.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are in a good place right now. They are 9-2, currently a game behind the Lions and tied with the Eagles for second best record in the NFC. Sam Darnold has stepped in and played extremely well this season. Darnold has been banged up from time to time this season and the Vikings could use a viable backup. Daniel Jones would be an upgrade at the backup position over Nick Mullens and Brett Rypien. Minnesota would also get a compensatory pick out of the situation. Sam Darnold will be a free agent after this season. Darnold may feel the need to leave seeing the Vikings drafted J.J. McCarthy to be their quarterback of the future. Daniel Jones could remain with the team and compete with McCarthy for starter if Darnold were to leave.

Los Angeles Rams

Despite the Rams losing to the Eagles last night, they remain a game out of first place. Daniel Jones would be an upgrade at the backup spot in Los Angeles. Matthew Stafford has taken a lot of punishment this season and over his career. Stafford is as tough as it gets when it comes to quarterbacks in the league. Would the Rams take a chance at bringing in Daniel Jones? They already have Jimmy Garoppolo and Stetson Bennett on the roster. This would be more about Daniel Jones learning from Sean McVay than the Rams needing him.

Philadelphia Eagles

Listen, I’m a Philadelphia Eagles fan and this may sound crazy. Would the Eagles even entertain the thought of bringing in Daniel Jones? They already have Tanner McKee and Kenny Pickett as their backups. The Eagles traded for Pickett in the offseason and McKee has been the emergency 3rd quarterback. McKee has done well in the preseason, but Daniel Jones is an upgrade over both. Philadelphia is in a position to make another Super Bowl run seeing Saquon Barkley is the MVP frontrunner. Howie Roseman loves to add draft picks, and they would get a compensatory pick by signing Jones. We already know that Jones and Barkley already have a great relationship, and this would stick it to the Giants. The problem with bringing him in is the possibility of messing up the team chemistry.

Baltimore Ravens

You may be thinking, the Baltimore Ravens? Yes, they are like the Eagles where they value picks, and the compensatory pick is appealing to them. Daniel Jones is nowhere near the caliber of quarterback or athlete, but they play a similar game. Would the Ravens look at Jones as a better backup option than Josh Johnson? If you think about it like that, Daniel Jones to the Baltimore Ravens makes a lot of sense.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders are nowhere near a playoff team. They have a quarterback situation that could easily appeal to Daniel Jones. Gardner Minshew went down on Sunday and is out for the season with a broken collarbone. Aidan O’Connell is expected to start, and they also have Desmond Ridder on the team. Daniel Jones is better than both and the Raiders have cap space to sign him. Would the Raiders sign and build around Jones heading into next season? If Jones would rather go to a situation where he can be a starter again, Las Vegas it is.
